Hwimori휘모리

Hwimori is the fastest, most turbulent rhythm in the traditional Korean repertoire. At its peak, the dancer no longer follows the beat — she becomes it. Rather than paint a figure, the artist paints the speed of the brush itself: the body's outline dissolves, leaving only the afterimage of motion. 휘모리는 한국 전통 장단 중 가장 빠르고 격렬한 리듬이다. 가락이 절정으로 치달을 때, 춤꾼의 몸은 더 이상 리듬을 따라가는 것이 아니라 리듬 그 자체가 된다. 작가는 이 순간을 형태가 아니라 색과 붓질의 속도로 그렸다 — 사람의 윤곽은 흩어지고, 남는 것은 오직 움직임이 남긴 잔상뿐이다. 절제된 춤들 사이에 놓인 이 한 점은, 한국 여인 안에 있는 또 다른 얼굴, 마침내 터져 나오는 격정을 보여준다.
